The five pilot TTAs where in the end
bought by PAS Inc. (normally these would be crushed) and got the
1G2.... VIN plate in the window replaced with 1G5... and the records
at GM updated accordingly. However the VIN Stickers on the body
panels of these 5 pilot cars where never changed so they still say 1G2
....
GM did not offer a factory convertible TTA. However, one was
created by ASC for PAS president Jeff Beitzel. This was one of the 4
pilot cars with t-tops and cloth interior and was owned and driven by
Jeff for about 6 month before sold to a collector. The car
currently resides in the Atlanta area since many years. I've
seen the convertible and sat in it. In addition there's at least
2 TTA's that was sent out to ASC by the dealerships to be converted as
could be done with any Firebird in those days.
